April Spotlight - Jason Tracey, Roar Consulting
Published on: 4/1/2018
After dedicating his career to resurrecting a struggling small business, and developing the careers of several hundred sales & leadership professionals Jason Tracey was inspired to start Roar Consulting in January 2018. “What I discovered is the business became my vehicle to speak in front of groups, make lasting impacts on the lives and careers of other people, to mentor aspiring leaders and it was when I was doing these things that I felt most fulfilled. While money is necessary to support my family, and accolades like Franchisee of the Year in 2017 are fantastic it is the calls and messages I receive thanking me for the positive influence I have had on another persons career that I most cherish.” Because he started his career as an entry level sales person working in positions from door to door, advertising sales, community organizing, and retail sales one of his biggest strengths is the ability to relate with the obstacles sales people are presented. The same can be said fo

December Spotlight - Janelle Reichman, Made By Continuum
Published on: 12/1/2017
Hello! I'm Janelle, and here's my story: after repeatedly meeting entrepreneurs with a TON of heart whose websites in no way correspond to their passion, I decided to make it my mission to create website designs for entrepreneurs that are in complete alignment with the spirit and character of their business.
Believe it or not, prior to making websites full-time, I spent ten years living in New York City making a living as a jazz clarinetist and saxophonist. My web design business was born in NYC when I saw that so many musicians there desperately needed a person who could create an artistic website for them, and someone who understood the sensibilities of musicians. Turned out that person was me.
Now happily back in the Midwest, I could not imagine a more fun or satisfying way of spending my days than helping other entrepreneurs and creatives get the most out of the web and propel their businesses forward!
And if you’re a music fan, make sure and check out janell

October Spotlight - Ann Arbor Arms
Published on: 10/1/2017
Ann Arbor Arms (A3) is a family owned business that was created out of the enthusiasm and passion for shooting sports, coupled with the love and concern for protection and wellbeing of friends and family.
Although Ann Arbor Arms retail focus is far removed from the industries which my wife, Holli, and I have focused on in our careers, the core of the store and its mission is at the heart of what we have always followed and believed: Have access to high quality products for the everyday person to ensure the safety and security of their family and friends.
Our times living and raising a family in south Florida led to the attention to preparation and protection as we repeatedly prepared for hurricane season and the challenges it brings to that region. Following the tragic events of Sept. 11th, as I was separated from family while on business in the Northeast, it became glaringly obvious that our family had to have a plan for such unseen events, and that God forbid something ha

July Spotlight - Homeland Solar
Published on: 7/1/2018
Since 2004 (with lifelong Washtenaw County personnel), Homeland Solar – “own your own power™” - focuses on energy issues and Energy Star building (Dave Friedrichs as owner has been licensed builder since 1990). The shift into solar came with the technology’s rapid advance (toward universal affordability) – and, specifically, the legislature’s 2008 passage of Public Act 285 (PA285) requiring all utilities to produce 10% of their power from renewable sources by 2015. (Note – now 15% by 2021.). We put an emphasis on user-ownership of solar, rather than third-party ownership. Heavy legal and operations background in professional work with community associations can help make solar possible FOR ALL, through user-owned and financed community solar projects, rather than simply the 30% or so of property owners who have favorable south-facing exposure to the sun.

May Spotlight - Donna Verna, Mary Kay
Published on: 5/1/2017
Married for 30 years to my husband (Scott, an engineer at GM) and mother to 3 terrific adult children, my life has been blessed! I have a Business Marketing degree from Auburn University and have always looked at how to make any organization function at its best. After working in the corporate world before having children and then as a substitute teacher in the Dexter school district for 16 years (a job that offered the same work days as my children) and volunteering for many things from Cub Scouts, to Swim Team to Equestrian Team to Prom while continuing to serve in my local church in the Worship Team and county 4H, my children grew up and are on their own. So, I decided to build my own career and set about for three years looking for the best place to do that. After learning about how Mary Kay is founded on the principles of God first, family second and career third and treating people by the Golden Rule, along with the positive "sisterhood" of fellow Consultants and of c
